Congratulations to Ali Ghazanfar who has won a gold medal representing England at the Masters World Cup. Playing for the over-40s the England team won all 6 of their group games to set up a meeting with Australia in the gold medal match.
England appeared to be cruising as they were leading 2 – 0 going into the fourth quarter, but Australia struck late and got the equalising goal in the 68th minute.
The game was decided by a shootout with England winning 3 – 1 to clinch the gold medal and the over-40s World Cup. England scored 35 goals throughout the tournament with Ali contributing 6 of them.
Also competing at Nottingham was former Rambler, Liam Hennessy who was playing for the over-35s team. They also ran out winners winning 1 – 0 in the final against South Africa.
Well done to both Ali and Liam – the club is very proud of your achievements.
